Erfan Saydanzad

Assistant Professor of Physics

Theoretical and computational ultrafast and strong-field physics. Current work includes strong-field ionization and photoelectron emission from metallic, dielectric, and semiconducting nanoparticles, attosecond plasmonic near-field imaging, and autoionization and predissociation dynamics of molecular Rydberg states. Ph.D. in Physics from Kansas State University; previously a postdoctoral researcher at the J. R. Macdonald Laboratory.

Joining the group

Undergraduate research opportunities are open to KSU students in physics, mathematics, and related fields. Students at different stages can contribute, including those early in the major who have completed calculus-based physics and have some programming experience.

Projects are theoretical and computational. Students learn by building and testing simulation workflows, interpreting results, and connecting models to published experimental measurements. Depending on preparation and advising, projects may develop into directed-study style work and conference or symposium presentations.

To inquire, email <esaydanz@kennesaw.edu> with your major, year, relevant coursework, and one physics question you would like to explore. You may also stop by Crawford Laboratory (Bldg. 846), Room 127, on the Marietta campus.
