Principles of Physics I
The calculus-based introductory sequence: mechanics, oscillations, waves and thermodynamics, for physics and engineering majors. Lecture notes are not posted yet.
Notes for this course are in preparation.
What this course is
The first half of the calculus-based introductory sequence — kinematics, Newton's laws, energy and momentum, rotation, oscillations, waves and an introduction to thermodynamics. Taken alongside the laboratory course, PHYS 2211L.
This is the course where a physics major first uses calculus on a physical problem rather than on a mathematical one, and the habit worth forming in it is the one the rest of the degree depends on: write down what is conserved before writing down anything else.
Course material
Assignments, grades and the syllabus are on the course LMS. Enrolled students should go there first.
